APRSCP Roundtables 8th APRSCP Theme: "“SCP and Green Growth for Climate Action” The Venue The Philippines (or Republic of the Philippines) is an archipelago situated in Southeast Asia. Made up of 7,107 islands, it is surrounded by such countries as Indonesia, Malaysia, Palau, and the Republic of China. The numerous islands that make up the Philippines likewise comprise a diverse mix of progressive cities, laid-back rural areas, and a host of scenic attractions, ranging from breathtaking mountains to picturesque beaches. (especially since the country has one of the longest shorelines) While Manila (a large metropolis located on Luzon island) may be the nation's capital, there are quite a number of fast-rising urban areas around the country such as Baguio up North and Davao down South (on Mindanao island). Cebu (a long narrow island located in the Visayas) boasts one of the premiere cities in the country (Cebu City). Beyond the bustling cityscape, the Island itself is known for its narrow coastlines, coastal plains, limestone plateaus--all of which make for the perfect tropical paradise. There are also a lot of rolling hills and rugged mountain ranges, some of which rising to a height of 1,000 meters above sea level. It likewise treats its residents and visitors to a vast array of scenic landmarks such as Magellan's Cross, Basilica Minore de Santo Nino (Basilica of the Child Jesus), Magellan Shrine, and Lapu Lapu Shrine, just to name a few. |
